Housing starts climbed 4.6% in June after falling 9.8% in May, according to yahoo!finance.
Applications for building permits, a good indication of future activity, rose 0.2% to 1.397 million units in June.
Single-family housing starts fell 4.6% to a rate of 883,000 units. Multifamily starts rose 31% to a rate of 414,000 units. Building permits for single-family homes fell 3.7% to a rate of 866,000 units, and permits for multifamily homes rose 7.6% to a rate of 478,000 units.
The completions rate for the single-family housing segment fell 12.5% to 908,000 units.
