NRCA member partners with food pantry to provide meals

The Morris County Interfaith Food Pantry, Morris Plains, N.J. has held its farmers market—where the groceries are free to those in need—for the past three years. However, it had to close for about three months because of the COVID-19 pandemic, causing many who rely on it to struggle, according to newyork.cbslocal.com. When it reopened, social distancing measures—and space for such measures—were necessary.

The farmers market recently was able to reopen as a drive-thru, and NRCA member GAF, Parsippany, N.J., opened its headquarters parking lot to host the market on its campus, partnering with the Interfaith Food Pantry to help provide the meals.

Jeff Terry, GAF’s vice president of corporate social responsibility & sustainability, volunteered for the event with about 40 of his colleagues.

“Partnering with Interfaith Food Pantry has really provided us an opportunity to come out and give something back,” Terry said.

Hundreds of cars lined up at the farmers market June 12, highlighting the community’s need for help. Interfaith Food Pantry said it has had 500 new families in Morris County seek help during the past 30 days.
