NRCA member wins leadership award

During its annual Hispanic Leadership Awards event, the Orange County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce announced NRCA member Antis Roofing & Waterproofing, Irvine, Calif., as one of the recipients. It is notable for a Caucasian-owned company to be given an award typically reserved for Hispanic-owned businesses; however, nearly 90% of Antis Roofing & Waterproofing’s employees are of Hispanic descent.

The awards emphasize companies that have philanthropy and community outreach ingrained in their culture. Charles Antis, founder and CEO of Antis Roofing & Waterproofing, accepted the award during the event with a tribute to his team.

“It means so much to receive this now, during Hispanic Heritage Month, when we honor Latin American traditions,” Antis said. He mentioned the company’s annual Aguinaldo, an end-of-year bonus of up to one month’s salary, as one of the many traditions the company learned from Latin American culture.

“We learn honor and respect from our Latin American employees, who show a deep philanthropic spirit,” Antis said.

Narciso Alarcon, senior field operations manager for Antis Roofing & Waterproofing, said giving back is something the company always has done, and it is what unites its team members.

“Watching us all work together … to me it reflects the (shared) culture that we have,” Alarcon said.

Highlighting the company’s deep commitment to philanthropic ventures—from Second Harvest food bank donations to giving free roofing services to Habitat for Humanity— Orange County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Reuben D. Franco said: “The pandemic hasn’t slowed them down one bit. It’s only strengthened their resolve to do more.”
