Women in the roofing industry gathered Feb. 2 in Dallas for the third annual NWIR Day at the International Roofing Expo.®
Held by National Women in Roofing, an independent organization advocating for and supporting women in the roofing profession, NWIR Day had more than 300 attendees and was an opportunity for women to network and learn.
The event included hands-on installation demonstrations, mentoring from industry experts, and sessions about business development, communications and roofing technology, among other topics. A safety fashion show was well-received; personal protective equipment historically has not been designed for women.
“We are focused on a purposeful movement highlighting the success of NWIR’s talented women,” says Jennifer Stone, co-chair of NWIR’s board of directors and Executive Committee. “These women are working daily to transform the roofing industry to be more inclusive and balanced. Every speaker, every story is reflected in the event today; through the words of these women, we saw the participants charged with a mission to speak their story with confidence.”
