Roofing Alliance announces 2021 student competition

The Roofing Alliance has announced the launch of its seventh annual Construction Management Student Competition. The event will be held during the 2021 International Roofing Expo® in Las Vegas, and roofing professionals are encouraged to share the competition information with construction management schools in their areas.

Through written and oral presentations, university-level construction management students will demonstrate their roofing knowledge, project management capabilities and presentation skills. The teams research the project, review the plans and specifications, and assemble a full estimate and qualified bid package proposal that is submitted to a board of Roofing Alliance judges.

This year, the teams will be tasked with submitting a qualified bid package for a new roof system on the Raiders practice facility, part of the new Intermountain Healthcare Performance Center in Henderson, Nev.

“We know that many schools are not allowing faculty or students to travel, so we will be prepared to have finalist teams present oral presentations virtually, if needed,” said Allen Lancaster, current student competition chair and vice president of Metalcrafts A Tecta America Co., Savannah, Ga. “But we are hopeful for our best competition yet. We want the roofing industry to share this with construction management schools that they may be associated with and ask them to consider participating.”
