You don’t need to be the boss to develop skills that can be useful for a leader.
Harvard Business Review shares the following three steps you can take to hone your leadership skills and become an influential member of your team.
- Embrace your strengths. Ask yourself to identify the work tasks that energize you, projects you enjoy and unique perspectives you bring to your team. When you understand yourself, you will be more equipped to carry yourself with a leader’s confidence.
- Take time for daily development. Improving your skills will help you expand your influence. Your company may value leaders who provide hard data and insights or leaders who are compassionate. Work on developing the leadership skills your company prizes.
- Connect with people. Establish meaningful relationships that are crucial to building influence on your team. Commit to being authentic and empathetic when you interact with co-workers.
