Abstract
In January 1987, the Roof Tile Committee of FRSA/NTRMA was commissioned to develop and write consensus standards for the installation of concrete and clay roof tiles. The consensus document procdess included meetings over a period of 10 years, made up of rooing contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, academia, roofing consultants and engineers. These standards were approved by a consensus of participating members. These standards are updated and reaffirmed by the same process at intervals not exceeding 3 years. These standards were developed to summarize for the designer, applicator or developer good roofing practice and industry standards for the installation of the mechanically-set and mortar/adhesive-set tiles, which have been developed over a period of time from actual trade practice and the requirements of various building codes agencies. These standards may not be applicable in all geographical areas. It is the responsibility of those individuals who are referring to these standards to independently research and determine which is best for their particular project.
