Abstract
The Energy Policy Act requires states to update commercial building codes to meet ASHRAE 90.1 standards. Meeting these code requirements will, in many instances, require significant upgrades of the thermal insulation used in commercial roofing systems. Designing roof systems to meet the new requirements will present an array of challenges. To assist in this transition, the Roofing Industry Educational Institute has developed this handbook which provides the data necessary to calculate the new insulation requirements. It also includes solved examples that illustrate how to put this information to work.
