Reroofing with asphalt shingles

To obtain a copy of a specific publication, users should contact the publication's publisher directly.

Abstract
Eventually a roof has to be replaced and a decision needs to be made if the reroofing job should be a tear off of the existing materials or to do a layover, laying new shingles diredctly over the old. Laying new shingles over old might avoid the cost of a tear off, but you still have to replace the vents and flashings.
