Wind Resistance of Roof Shingles

To obtain a copy of a specific publication, users should contact the publication's publisher directly.

Abstract
Resistance to wind blow off is one of the most important performance requirements of asphalt shingles. The significance of wind resistance has increased as the rofing market has moved toward fiberglass mat-based shingles and away from the traditional organic felt-based shingles. Unfortunately, it is not easy for the contractor to determine how well a shingle will resist wind blow-off. Some basic, but minimum guidelines to look for in shingle specifications are listed here.
