Abstract
This paper summarized the results of a comprehensive evaluation of roof sheathing fastening schedules for wood frame construction. These results include a procedure for design of fasteneing schedules for wind uplift as well as feastening schedulle recommendations. The scope of this evaluation study included analysis of the repsonse of sheathing attachment schedulres to uplift pressure, laboratory evaluation of fastener schedule performance and fastener withdrawal performance, and development of a design procedure. This design procedure was used to develop three distinct schedules for wind uplift. The same design process allows for general use by engineers. Wind uplift pressur computed according to ASCE 7-88 were used in determining conditions that would dictate use of the recommended fasteneing schedules. Computed uplift pressures were also used to consider adequacy of prescribed fastening schedules during Hurricane Andrew.
