Abstract
Historically, roofing contractors have been confronted with a choice of products when specifying and installing roof systems. Metal roof systems offer a number of important benefits including attractive life-cycle costs, durability and water drainage characteristics. Aesthetically, standing seam's unique high rib configuration provides design flexibility. This article briefly touches on retrofit option of metal roofs, life cycle costs, thermal resistance, fire rating, wind performance and coating protection as well as some of the advantages of metal roofing.
